@digitante My primary interest is the story; #Asimov‘s work is important part of my culture, & I would hate to see it lost b/c of !copyright
-
@laurelrusswurm IIRC, under the !copyright that applied when he published it, “I, Robot” by #Asimov would now be in the public domain.
-
@digitante Only works published prior to 1923 or specifically placed in the public domain are public domain in the US. It may be different in Canada.

@lnxwalt280 Yeah, I gave up trying to pursue any of this. The laws here are a mess. It basically amounts to a judge’s decision as to what is in and what is out. Even CC0 is questionable in most juridictions.
-
@whistlewright !Canada‘s !copyright term is still shorter (50 years) because they’ve not yet managed to pass a #CanadianDMCA (trying) !C11
-
@laurelrusswurm yeah that one is on the #MPAA‘s internal bug tracker as “still to fix”
-
@laurelrusswurm well for whatever it’s worth I wish we had you laws because 1984 is PD for you but not for me.
-
@whistlewright The unfortunate reality is that the safest course is to assume everything is the longest term in the world !copyright #chill
-
@laurelrusswurm or do what some do and ignore the fascists and do what they want
-
@whistlewright I think it is important to fight bad law openly, and so i vocally oppose !C11 ... ∴not a good idea to flout laws #ianal
